Cannot open excel attachments

I am trying to open an excel attachment from my hotmail account. I am
receiving the following message: filename.xls cannot be accessed. The file
may be read only, or you may be trying to access a read only location. Or,
the server the document may be stored on is not responding. I get these
e-mails from work and have been able to open them previously and no one else
seems to be having the same problems. I am running excel 2003 sp2 and the
documents are the same. Please help me - Lisa

Try to clean up your Temp folder

Reboot
StartRun
Enter: %temp%
Delete all files and folders in the temp folder
Try again

Sometimes one of these works when you're having trouble with double clicking on
the file in windows explorer. Maybe it'll fix the problem with the email
attachment, too?????

Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

--- or ---

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

Maybe one of these will work for you.
