Changing data in cells

I have a workbook with a worksheet with about 20 columns. I have a date
column and a custom column with 3 numbers a dash and then 4 numbers. I will
enter the data, save it, close the workbook. When I return, sometimes, the
date or the other field has been changed. IE: entered date of 2/10/07
becomes 12/31/06. I have checked the cell formats and everything appears
fine. I also use the filter function but even if I remove the filters the
data remains scrambled. Any ideas? Help?

It would help if you gave a sample of the 3 numbers, dash, 4 numbers. Did
these "turn into" dates? Or was a date of 2/10/07 entered and became 12/31/06?

It was the date of 2/10/07 that changed to 12/31/06. The other field, for
example is a 380-1680 that changes to 350-1680.
