typing #1 becomes #10
 

When i go to type the number 1 in a spreadsheet it comes up as a ten, or 2
becomes 20!!!

typing #1 becomes #10
 

Check it's really 10, rather than 1.0

It might be that you've for fixed length digits turned on.

One to check is auto-correct, has it been set to automatically correct 1 to 10

Tools|Options|Edit tab|Uncheck fixed decimals
