Excel displaying csv wrong
Hello all,
I have two files, both with an extension of .csv. One file is retrieved from a website and the other is generated by an application (which initially retrieves it from that same website). When I look at these two files in notepad, they are visually identical, however, Excel does not display them in the same way. When I double click on the file from the webpage it opens in Excel and the columns are all separated properly using the commas as delimiters, but when I double click on the file from the application all the data for each row in the report is displayed in the first column and the commas are not recognized as delimiters. Does anyone know why this would be happening and how I might be able to fix it? I'm using Excel 2003. I've found similar questions online, but I haven't been able to find a resolution. Several posting suggest checking the 'List separator' value, which is set to a comma on my machine. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jay |
