How to remove unwanted custom toolbar
I have a custom toolbar dilemma. I created MyCustom Toolbar and used it
during creation of a couple workbooks about 2 years ago. I thought I got rid of it using hints in these discusssion groups, but apparently not. I just opened another old file (Afile.xls) and MyCustom Toolbar reappeared. I'd like to remove it. I dont use it, dont want it, never want to see it again in any of my files. I don't understand how Excel works but thought it was stored with either the workbook (*.xls) files created then, the Excel11.xlb, the personal.xls, or maybe all of these.... What I've done: A. I opened Afile.xls. Closed the toolbar. Then, as suggested in the Excel help file, 1. On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Toolbars tab. 2. In the Toolbars box, select the custom toolbar you want to delete. 3. Click Delete. Then I saved Afile.xls. B. In C:\Documents and Settings\myname\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\ - I Renamed Excel11.xlb to a different extention. - I Moved PERSONAL.XLS out of the directory .\XLSTART I've also done sequence B, A, B and My_Custom toolbar persists in Afile.xls. Im using Excel 2003. I was using Excel 2000 when I made My_Custom toolbar. How I can I get rid of it? I want to keep my Personal.xls because it has some code modules I want. ~~~thanks, laura in albuquerque~~~ |
How to remove unwanted custom toolbar
Laura,
Open Afile.xls. Right click a commandbar, click "Customize", then select the Toolbars tab. Click the Attach button, then select the toolbar in the right hand text box and click "Delete" (The "Attach" button will switch to "Delete" when you select a toolbar that is already attached to a file) Click Ok, then look for that toolbar in the toolbar list, select it if it is there, and press delete. Then save the file, and never, never, never attach a toolbar to a file again. HTH, Bernie MS Excel MVP "laura_in_abq" wrote in message ... I have a custom toolbar dilemma.
