Hyperlinks error
I'm tryng to hyperlink from a Excel cell to a Word document on a network
drive but keep getting the error message 'cannot open the specified file'. I can create hyperlinks in the cell to other Word files in the same network folder and the file opens fine on it's own so is not corrupt. What am I missing? |
Hyperlinks error
If other links work ok, I'd double check my typing. I'm guessing that you have
a typo in the link's address. Bikertyke wrote: I'm tryng to hyperlink from a Excel cell to a Word document on a network drive but keep getting the error message 'cannot open the specified file'. Hyperlinks error
Without knowing how you're creating the hyperlinks and what they look like
after you set them up, it's difficult to say. In a networked environment it is usually best to create the hyperlink using the address you get by going through My Network Places, especially if other people are using your file. If you set up a hyperlink to a shared folder that may be mapped as drive S: on your computer, it won't work on another computer without the same mapping. So your link to S:\MyFile.doc won't work if the path is more like \\companysharesystem\sharedfiles\billsfiles\MyFile .doc "Bikertyke" wrote: I'm tryng to hyperlink from a Excel cell to a Word document on a network drive but keep getting the error message 'cannot open the specified file'.
