How do I compare similar data in two separate workbooks?

This is a correction to my previous post
If the amount of data isn't too great -

Copy and paste the two sets of data to a new workbook (so they follow on).
This will keep your originals away from danger.

In a helper column add A and B respectively to identify the source.

In a further helper column put the formula =IF(A2=A1,1,0) where column A
contains the information to be compared. This can be refined with a
formula comparing more than one field.

Sort data on a field (type of data) common to both sets of data.

Copy and paste (values) the second helper column.

You will now have all the data together with a flag in the second helper
column to show where you may have a duplicate.

Sort on the second helper column.

Delete all rows where the second helper column is 1.

Hope this helps.

Perhaps some thought should be given to avoiding this problem??

Regards.

I have my original workbook with data and I receive a workbook with
similar
data from an outside source. I currently print the second workbook page
by
page and manually do an audit to compare the second source data to my
original data. How can I have excel compare the two separate workbook
data?
Help please....
