Did I mess up when I installed the trial version or is the trial version a
read only setup? I can't create new files or edit files I receive.

I don't what trial version you are referring to, but I would have thought
that any trial version will be just that, a trial version.
If you could create new files and edit existing ones with it, MS would be
giving it away and there's little or no danger of that!

Alan.

Where did you get it. I expect you have installed the Excel Viewer,
which is basically a read only version of Excel and is a lot smaller
than Excel, but it lets you view Excel files. Similar to Adobe Acrobat
Reader which allows you to view PDF files but not create them.

I presume you are referring to Excel 2007. AFAIAA, it is a fully functional,
time restricted product, so you should be able to save files okay. One big
problem people seem to have is that when the trial expires, they cannot get
the backwards converter (to 2003) to work.
