Default Viewing number of characters in cells

I type a lot of information in the cells of my spreadsheets. They overlap to
the next cell and I don't know where the next empty cell is. I want all the
information on one line not word wrapped.
Is there a way in excel to get around this?
Thanks.

Format cell and un=check word wrap. Double-click the right hand edge of the
cell with the data in and it will autofit to the correct width.

Try to increase the size of the cell.

I want to be able to see all the columns. When I autofit I can't view all
columns.

Then reduce from 100% to the limit that you are able to read.
