Temporarily Disable Autocorrect
 

I am trying to enter 'i' in a cell without it changing to I. I know you can
disable the autocorrect functions, but is there a quicker way to do this? In
word you can just "undo" the autocorrect and go on. The end result is that
the autocorrect continues to function but skipped that one instance.

I thought you could use the undo on the toolbar or click Ctrl+z after it had
made the correction to revert it back to how it was typed

Yes, ctrl+z does that in Excel. I just tested it.

the undo doesn't work the same way for me. I can "sometimes" hit i [space]
and then undo (won't work for multiple cells in a row). But it never works
with just i [enter] (undo clears the cell).

This is using Excel 2000. I don't know if it's been fixed in newer versions.

Could be - I was using 2003.

I have just tried it on 2000 and Ctrl+z works as long as the cells are not
consecutive.

I was always putting in a space and then Ctrl+z. i on its own does not work.

Have you considered adding 'ii' to auto correct and changing it to 'i' as a
workround?
