Viewing pictures inserted or cut and pasted into excel

I am unable to see pictures that I either insert or cut and pasted into excel
after saving the spreadsheet and then reopening it. I can see the "shape"
but not the picture. If I move ths "shape" the picuture will appear. This
is very problematic becasue I want to be able to send spreadsheets to others
and they have no idea the picture exists unless they stumble on the shape and
move it. This happens regardless as to whether I use and Jpeg, bit map or
other formats for the picture. I appreciate the help if you have any.
