HELP PLEASE! I NEED TO TELL THE FACTORY WHAT TO MAKE USING EXCEL!!
I have a spreadsheet of total orders for our products that been dumped as raw
data into a spreadsheet from an old DOS sales/inventory mgmt program. The key variables in the 'data dump' are 'product code', 'order qty', 'customer code' & 'week ending production date'. I've set up a layout for a new production schedule worksheet (in the same workbook) where I want to total the orders for each product code (130 codes), based on the estimated w/e production date that we have manually listed in the data dump sheet. Ideally, I would like to 'toggle' the presentation of the weekly order quantities by typing in the 'week ending production date' into a cell on the new production schedule worksheet & have EXCEL extract the numbers (from the data dump sheet) for that week. The tricky thing is the orders for each product code range from none to hundreds for others so im not sure where to place the formula to apply the total to each product code. The data dump will occur once a month & I want to copy & paste over the raw data spreadsheet (the data presentation remains the same with the auto filter feature added) so that new orders keyed into the DOS program (since the last dump) are added. Can anyone advise me how I can total the order quantities by production w/e date? -- Thanks so much Pete EXCEL 2003, WINXP SP2, 1 GIG RAM, |

have you considered using a pivot table? its the sort of thing i would for
this sort of data, especially if you are only reviewing the information, rather than doing any subsequent calculations. "Pete" wrote in message ... Thanks Tim,
I dont know a whole lot about pivot tables but I will investigate.
