Problem with Gridlines and Windows Pane Freeze

I'm working on a workbook with many tabs. On all of these worksheets I've
set the "Freeze Panes" and unchecked the Gridlines box in Tools.

But, every so often these two settings get reset.... The gridlines reappear
and the Freeze Panes are removed from every worksheet!

It takes quite a bit of time to redo all of these.... any ideas why this
keeps happening?

Maybe you're hitting Window|New window?

hmmmm, so if you want 2 windows of the same document (which I do frequently
to compare data) and you use the Window|New Windows menu item it will not
apply the same preferences you have set in the first windows? I didn't know
that..... very interesting.
