IN ONE PARTICULAR EXCEL97 FILE CANT SEE FILL-SERIES-OPTION

In one particular excel97 sheet, the VB i wrote to fill serial
number using -FILL-SERIES. After a lengthy cross checking found the
cause to be that 'SERIES option in EDIT-FILL- is disabled. Even
after unprotecting also the -series- option does not get enabled. But
in a new worksheet or other excel97 files have I can see. Why this
phenomena?
