imported data isn't in columns

I am trying to open a text file with Excel 2003. When the file opens in
Excel it is not in it;s appropriated columns. Instead, the data are streched
across the screen in continuous rows. I need to be able to select a column
of data, but the data are not in separate columns. I have imported similair
data files succesfully, but I have six files that will not import properly.
I would be happy to send the file to someone if this description is unclear.
Thank you for any help you may offer,
Brendan

imported data isn't in columns

hi,
your problem is not uncommon perticularly when importing unformatted text.
high lite the column of the imorted text then go Datatext to columns
follow the wizard. if you have never used this feature, you may have to play

with it a little because it can get tricky depending on how the text is layed
out.

You should have been able to manipulate the data as you opened it into excel
through:
File Open ( the text import wizard will come up)
DelimitedNext
now here is where you can manipulate your data and by using the vertical
scroll bar you can preview how text is imported. When you have what you need:
Finish
