Default date entry

I have a spreadsheet that I use as a rooming list for a hotel. I have dates
of arrival and departure on it. ex 2/7/07. When I try to copy some date
with the dates to a new spreadsheet the date changes to something like
2/3/03. It changes the year and the date. What do to fix that?

Default date entry

One system has 1904 date base (default on Mac),
the other 1900 (default on Windows, Dec 31, 1899).
Tools, Options, Calculation, (option) 1904 dates

Read about in help with answer wizard by searching on
1900 1904

Just to add to David's response...

One workbook was using a base year of 1900 and the other was using 1904.
(tools|options|calculation tab|1904 date system)

One way to add those four years back is to find an empty cell, put 1462 into
that cell.

Copy that cell.

Select your range that contains the dates.
Edit|PasteSpecial|Click Add (or Subtract) depending on which workbook you want
to fix.

You may have to reformat the cell as a date (mine turned to a 5 digit number).
But it should work.

You may want to do it against a copy...just in case.

Most windows users use 1900 as the base date. Mac users (mostly??) use 1904 as
the base date.
