remove unwanted text after the 7th position
 

I have a range of cells, all consistent with the first 7 positions. I want
to remove everything to the right of the 7th position. I've tried various
special characters in 'edit/replace' to no avail.

Hi George,
If all in a column you can use
Data, Test to columns, fixed length,
throw everything after the 7th position away.

test on a copy of the worksheet.

=left(cell,7)

use a helper column, maybe copying the results back afterwards
