formula inside a formula
 

i'm trying to make a question in an excel quiz so that it calculates
the answer within a formula

here is an example

where the ****'s are, i want it to calculate 30-B13 (the destination
cell) inside the same formula, as the value_if_false.

how would i go about doing this?

Try this:

=IF(B13=30,"Keep it up","You need to do "&(30-B13))
