How Come I can't delete a worksheet (option greyed out) Excel 02

I'm trying to delete a worksheet in Excel (Office XP), but the option is
greyed out under "Edit" drop - down menu, what could cause this? I've
selected the sheet first, but cannot get the delete sheet option to show.

If the workbook is protected (Tools, Protection) or shared (Tools, Share
Workbook) worksheets cannot be deleted.
