How do I remove duplicate excel files that are named - name:1 [vsync] and
name:2 [vsync]?

You saved the workbook when you had 2 windows open, press ctrl + F4 and save
the workbook

why do I have duplicate excel files - name:1 [vsync], name:2
 

If you in the workbook have sheets in which you have used 'Tools' - 'Option'
- 'View' - and unchecket 'Rows & column headers', this sheet will appear as
(Vsync) and will scroll accordingly.
