We have a new networked printer in our office and now we are having a problem
printing entire workbooks in color. It will not apply the default print settings to all pages if it was printed on another printer first. The first page will print in color but it does not appear to apply those settings to each of the pages in the workbook. It looks like we have to go to each page and change the printer settings to the new printer then re-save the doc so the setting stay. Is there a way to apply printer settings to all pages in the workbook automatically instead of having to go to each sheet then re-save the document??? Any help is appreciated...Thanks |

Yes, there is a way to apply printer settings to all pages in the workbook automatically. Here are the steps to do so:
Now, all worksheets in the workbook should have the same print settings applied, and you should be able to print the entire workbook in color without having to change the printer settings on each individual worksheet.

Select the first sheet in the workbook, hold down the [Shift] key and select
the last sheet in the workbook (you can scroll over to the last sheet if it is waaaayyy over and then hold the [Shift] key down when you select the last sheet). All sheets in the workbook will then be selected. Set up your printer settings. Then click on any sheet to ungroup the sheets. I believe that'll do it for you. I actually had never realized until now that individual sheets were 'printer independant' - go figure. But considering the way that excel is often used for a variety of content on various pages, I suppose it makes some sense. Some print setup features can be set with the worksheets "grouped". Right-click on a sheet tab and "select all sheets" Then set up the active sheet and all sheets will receive same setup including printer choice. EXCEPTIONS.............. Print Range cannot be set on grouped sheets. Rows to repeat at top cannot be set on grouped sheets. To set these two items on all sheets would require VBA code. If interested in some code, post back.
