XL can only recognize 15 digits as numbers, the only way XL can hold more
is if it is the form of text. Either format the cell as text, or insert a
single quote ' in front of your 17 digit entry.

Does this help?

You say that you're *totaling* a number of more then 15 digits.

If this will be a common requirement of your procedures, then XL is *not*
the program for you!

Try something like Mathematica or Maxima.

There are Add-Ins for XL that are supposed to enhance XL's ability to deal
with numbers in excess of 15 digits.
