Analysis Services add in - features lost in 2007
The analysis services add in has been replaced in Excel 2007 with the ability
to change a pivot table into Cube formula fields (cube member and other cube formulas) which has generally speaking removed the need for the report building aspects of the add in. The problem with this is that features of the add-in have gone away at the same time. For example if you have a olap hierarchy set up for CountryStateCity in the add in you could double click on the country right in an excel field and it would expand out the states/provinces, etc. in the selected country. It doesn't do that anymore - is there a way to turn it back on? Also the drill to detail at a cell level seems to have gone away. With the add in you could drill down on a specific cell (drilling to a list of the actual transactions from the SQL data tables). Does anyone have any details here and hopefully can point me to where to turn these features back on. |
Analysis Services add in - features lost in 2007
I am experiencing the same problem.
I am wondering, is the Pivot Table functionality improved to the point that we don't need OLAP add-in? We have many OLAP cubes in SQL Server 2005 and this is a very important issue for us. Looking for a good response to your questions.
