Excel 2007 - Secure workbook with password
 

Hi:

With the changes in the layout of the new version of Excel, I can't find the
place to protect the opening of the worksheet with a password. I tryed to
look but can't find it!

Can anywone help me?

Select the Home tab from the Ribbon, and towards the right edge there is a
group called Cells with the Format option on there. Click the Formt
dropdown, and you will see Protection at the foot of that menu.

But the only options that I get a
Protect Sheet...
Lock
Cells...

That way I can't protect the workbook from being opened from a person
without knowing the password.

The thing is, I want to prevent the workbook to be seen from another peorson
without knowing the password to open the workbook... where can I find that
option on Excel 2007?

That I know, but I can't find the way to protect the workbook with a
password from opening like in Excel 2003. I'm using Excel 2007 beta.

If you ACTUALLY want the workbook, Review TabChanges GroupProtect
Workbook.

Have you used the save as options? I,m not running 2007 but in all other
Excel 2003 you protect workbook from open with password from the "save As" /
"Tools" / "General", encryption options in 2003 but I don't know it all that
changed in 2007!

I'm from Portugal, maybe I'm not making myself clear with the subject, sorry!

I'll try to explain:

In Excel 2003 we can secure the entire file to br protected with a password
going trhought the menu Tools Options Security tab and the option 'Password
to open'.

It's something similar to this. My Excel 2003 is in Portuguese so I'm trying
to translate it.

But now, with Excel 2007, I can't find that option.

Do you know were it is?

Thanks...

When I do the Save as option, the dialog box has a button called 'Tools' on
the lower left corner. If I go there and then choose 'General Options' I can
put the password to open the file.

Hi, precious help... at least I saw the little box now...

When I do the Save as option, the dialog box has a button called 'Tools' on
the lower left corner. That wasn't there in Excel 2003. If I click there and
then choose 'General Options' I can put the password to open the file.
