check box
 

sorry i am relatively new in excel and cannot figure out how to do certain
things
i have added a check box control using the control toolbox but it does not
"tick" and "untick" when i click on it with my cursor. i assume i need to
write a Macro for it or something

any assistance will be greatly appreciated

also i am having dificulty changing the sive of the box although i expand
the area the actual box remains the same

Sounds like you are still in the "design mode". Go back to the tool bar
that you had when you placed the check box (viewtoolbarscontrol toolbox).
In the upper left corner is an icon that moves you in and out of the design
mode, move out of the design mode. As to the size of the box, it is as it is
and cannot be changed.
