Excel still running in task manager after closing the application
 

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gents

I have a problem with excel 2003. I run Windows XP Service Pack 2 with all
the latest and greatest office and windows updates.

Problem is: When opening an excel spreadsheet it opens quick with no
problems, so now I am done working on that file and I close it. After a few
minutes I need to work on another spreadsheet and open that one only thi time
it takes up to 5 minutes to open the file, before it opens I jump on to the
task bar gettint the taskmanager up and discover that the excel.exe process
is running. Right now I end the process try again and it opens immediately.
So my conclusion to this problem is that when opening excel.exe it opens the
process excel.exe with it. Then when you close excel.exe the excel.exe in the
task manager remains running and this is causing it to be slow. - prove me
wrong and give me a fix for this problem.
