Excel: Remove color background from cells, restore grid.
1) I select cells and add a background color, say yellow.
2) I later want to remove the background color from a few of the colored cells. 3) The background changes to white BUT the gray grid lines that surrounded the cells have vanished. 4) I try adding a border but it looks different. How do I restore the original cell grid lines to the worksheet? |

Hi tolstoi
Choose "No Fill" instead of White in the Fill Color dialog -- Regards Ron de Bruin http://www.rondebruin.nl "tolstoi" wrote in message ... 1) I select cells and add a background color, say yellow. 2) I later want to remove the background color from a few of the colored cells. 3) The background changes to white BUT the gray grid lines that surrounded the cells have vanished. 4) I try adding a border but it looks different. A cell interior color overrides the gridlines surrounding the cell.
Therefore, the common border (gridline) for an adjacent uncolored cell will not show. You can come close to duplicating the appearance of a gridline by using a thin solid border with a light gray color. -- Jim Cone San Francisco, USA http://www.realezsites.com/bus/primitivesoftware "tolstoi" wrote in message 1) I select cells and add a background color, say yellow. 2) I later want to remove the background color from a few of the colored cells. 3) The background changes to white BUT the gray grid lines that surrounded the cells have vanished. 4) I try adding a border but it looks different.
