How to unlock date format in excel

No matter how many times I select general format for each cell, it still
changes the number to a date after I press enter.

How to unlock date format in excel

Hi Ron

If the number you are entering is a fraction, which could have a valid
interpretation as a date, then Excel will try to be "helpful" and
convert it for you e.g. 1/4 will 01 Apr 2006 but 15/16 will not be
converted.

Either prefix your entry with a single quote, or pre-format the cell as
Text.
