Can I set up a spreadsheet to count taps on a touch screen?

I would like to write an excel spreadsheet that can be used in the field to
keep track of item counts. I have a panasonic tough book with a touch screen
and would like to be able to just touch a certain cell and have it tally the
counts.
Any thoughts on this?

The usual approach is to create a button on the worksheet to do the counting.
