Sounds like template problem
Open your Excel\XLSTART folder and look for a file called Sheet.xlt or SHeet1.XLT and renane it (JUNK.XLT) Now check it the probelm continues. best wishes -- Bernard V Liengme www.stfx.ca/people/bliengme remove caps from email "J. You may have a file named Book.xlt in your XLSTART folder
(usually in Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office) If it exists, it's used as a template for new workbooks, and it may have merged cells. You could unmerge the cells, and save as a template over the existing version. J.
