I have fixed an excel document with a formula to figure dates, but if I don't
put a figure in the cell that it refers to, there is a date where the formula
is and I don't want a date there unless I put a date in the cell the formula
references. How do I do that?

On way is to use a formula something like:
=IF(A1="","",your_formula_here)
