how the link of Excel is updated automatically using workgroup LAN
I have 3 computer workstations connected via switch to construct small LAN
workgroup , each workstation has windows xp sp1 and office xp proffesional, The first workstation has excel file (d1.xls) which has entry cell for number of employees say n1 The second workstation has excel file (d2.xls) which has entry cell for number of employees say n2 The third workstation has excel file (d3.xls) which has (link to n1 + link to n2 ) When n1 and n2 are entered the link of the sum in d3.xls is not updated automatically so d1.xls and d2.xls must be saved and closed and d3.xls must be closed and opened again to update the link of the sum(n1,n2). So what is the way to update the link automatically during the moment the n1 and n2 are entered without closing the files |

These are 3 different pc's running these 3 different workbooks, right?
The files have to be saved. But each person can go to: Edit|Links|and click on the Update links button and the links will be updated with the saved(!) data.
