reading into pivot table drop downs

Windows XP
Excel 2002 SP 3

I have a worksheet that is populated with external data from MS Access. I
return the data as a querytable, and then create some pt's (pivot tables) off
these querytables.

Some of my page fields in the pt are little more than unique identifiers.
They only serve to tell me whether or not my query and pt have refreshed
properly after my refresh code runs (its bee known to act up from time to
time). These page field identifiers only hold one piece of data, yet they
change every time I refresh my querytable. As such I leave them as "all"
within the page field drop-down on the pt, because if I actually selected a
value, the next time I refreshed, it would no longer be a choice.

I would like to see the values of the drop down (not necessarily select it)
without having to click on the drop down. Is there a formula or something i
could put into a cell that would read the pt drop-down values (there should
only be one) and display it in the cell? I would put this on the top of the
page so I could glance at it and know everything refreshed properly instead
of having to hit the drop-down and then close it again (too many worksheets
in this book).

I hope that made sense to someone.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Lou Sanderson
