Default Microsoft Templates use white for fill color, why?

Why is 'White' used as the 'fill color', rather than 'No Fill' in the
body of the pre-installed sample Microsoft templates, e.g., invoice.xlt?

There must be a reason, but it's not obvious to me.

Thanks.
