hyperlink remains in edited cell
 

My spreadsheet is an address list. When I update an email address, the
hyperlink does not update. If necessary, I would turn off hyperlinks. I can't
accomplish either right now.
I have tried:
* Edit, but links is not highlighted
* Instructions under deactivate hyperlink (indivdual cell and multiple
cells) and nothing happens
* File Remove hidden data erased the hyperlinked addresses.
As a temporary fix I've used the file with addresses erased and cut and
pasted the addresses from the original.

How do I manage this going forward? There must be a setting I don't
recognize that would update hyperlinks when I change the cell contents. Or
maybe I must use a different method when updating these cells?

Right Click the link, and on context menu click edit link.
