Default Excel Office 2003

When I open a new workbook in excel, I get a a workbook with 34.2MB size.
Even after a small amount of data is entered and saved the file still is
34.2MB. This makes it too big an attachment to e-mail. Any ideas?

How do you open a new workbook?

Maybe you have a book.xlt template file in your XLStart folder that is huge?

Use windows start button|search to look for XLStart (or book.xlt) and see if
this could be the problem.

What do you find in the XLStart folder?

And if you find any workbooks, what are the filesizes?
