Cannot remove read only attribute
A frequently used .xls file suddenly could not be modified because it was
labelled 'read-only'. The read only attribute can be removed but when the file is closed and re-opened the read only has returned. Data cannot be saved to the original file on closing. Can anyone please advise how to remove the 'read only' attribute permanently. |

navigate to the folder the file lives in,right click on it then click on
properties, untick read only. You may need to be an administrator to make it stick. -- paul remove nospam for email addy! Sounds to me like you are trying to do thi from XL instead of setting it on the file itself. Alternatively, perhaps you can save it as something else and try the same thing on the copy ? HTH. |
