I have a doubt!

Hi to all,

It is quite recently I became an addict to this Discussion Board. I am much
amazed to see the depth of knowledge in Excel of some adorable persons, who
give instant and accurate answers to the queries. But I have a doubt. Why
there are no green ticks to their wonderful answers and keeps the question as
still unanswered? Or is Microsoft keeping a specific answer for which only
they will give the green tick? Didnt you ever think of it?

Regards,

Jaleel

The person who posted the question gets to indicate whether or not the
response is an answer. Some select only one response as an answer, other
select all the correct responses and check them as answers, while other just
say "thanks..." or nothing at all.

Its up to the individual who's posted the question, not Microsoft, to
indicate correct answers.

Hi Kevin,

Hi Kevin,

Thanks a lot to make me familiarize with the rules and practice of the
Discussion Board. I was in a wonderland and feel so ashamed.

Hi Jaleel,

Quite a few of us post questions (and answers) in usenet as opposed to the
html interface for the newsgroups. We miss out on the fancy ticks and
formatting, but gain in speed and ease of use.

I have a doubt!

Jaleel,

Actually, it's because this group is not a discussion board: its a newsgroup. Some websites
(notably, Micorsoft's) offer interfaces to the newsgroup (your "discussion board") with added
features like rating the response, but many users - such as myself - access these groups using
newsreader programs (like MS Outlook Express, part of Internet Explorer) which doesn't access those
extra features.
