auto fill of formulas

I have some spreadsheets that will automatically copy the formula above when
data is entered in the cell to the left of the cell where the formula is
needed. I can't find how this feature is turned on.......

It sounds like a Worksheet_Change event procedure.
Is the code in that worksheet's code module? If not then you will have
to copy/paste from a sheet that does have the code.
Have macros been enabled when the workbook was opened?
Are Events enabled, or has a previous error turned events off without
turning them back on?

Perhaps ToolsOptionsEditExtend Data Range Formats and Formulas?
