In Excel why does the / key activate the menu bar?
A user wants to enter text in a cell beginning with the forward slash
character. When she does this it simply activates the File menu but does not enter the / in the cell. Cant find this mentioned in keyboard shortcuts or sticky keys or accessibility. Does anyone know how to turn this off? |

Under Tool menu go to Option and choose Transition tab and change th settings

The reason for / key activating the File Menu, is because, Microsoft Excel was developed after Lotus 123 was in market. Lotus 123 Dos version had / as the key to activate the menu. So to faciliate the users who are migrating from Lotus 123 to Excel, this option was provided. regards L.
