protect a cell

I am trying to protect a formula in a cell. I want others to be able to
change data in other cells on the worksheet but don't want them to change any
cells that I have a formula in.
I have followed the direction of all the replies on this type of post but I
am still unable to make this work.
When you say 'select a sheet' does the entire sheet have to be highlighted
or something? Also, after you have locked/unlocked the applicable cells you
then have to protect the sheet.
When you protect the sheet what should/should not be checked.
Can anyone help???

Hi Classic

1) Ctrl-A to select all cells (Do it twice in 2003)
2) Ctrl-1 and on the protection tab uncheck locked
3) Press on F5Special ..... formulas...OK
4) Ctrl-1 and on the protection tab check locked
5) Protect your sheet (ToolsProtection)
Only the first two checked is OK
