Grouping Problem in Pivot

I am trying to group dates so they sum by month. I keep getting a pop-up
window that says 'Cannot Group that selection'. I have tried different data
sets but keep getting the same result. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

If you have text or empty cells in that field, you won't be able to group that
field.

Thank you. I looked for empty cells or text but cannot find them. Is there
a way to double check? Seems simple but I am stuck. Thanks.
