I have tried conerting the column to number format - doesn't work
have tried an apostrophe in front of numbers - didn't work

have not tried hammer, but soon . . .

I was having another kind of pb. but solved it my manually modifying my
schema.ini.
Make a safecopy of your schema.ini before modifying it.

You can specify all sorts of parameters for your data files in schema.ini
.....
Including data types.
