any way to track changes on a sheet using a list?

we use a shared drive so divisions across the country can access budget
files. i would like to track changes made by these outside divisions. our
budget workbook contains about 15 different worksheets. One sheet uses a
list to itemize different producer types, ie: Outside producer, Termed
Producer, Current Producer.

this one sheet is blocking me from being able to turn the track changes
option on.

is there any work around for this?

Thanks in advance for any insight....

Sounds like the same problem as below, i.e. the sheet is protected.
Try Tools, Protection and remove the protection.

Peter,

Initially i thought i had tested all protection possibilities without being
able to figure out why i couldn't get my change tracking to work on this one
sheet. But after reading your post, i went back and looked at my data
validation restrictions. after some investigation, i realized that i had set
up my approved choices under the Data/List function and then used this list
as my source under the Data/Validation/Source function as well. Once i
removed the List function and linked my choices to a set of rows directly
through the Validation function, i was able to track my changes.

thanks so much for making me research the issue further. :)
