Can I save Excel files of the same name in the same folder?
I am exporting data from a software package into Excel. One Excel file is
created each time and stored in a particular folder. My problem is that the software package won't let me save the files as a different name so the Excel file is just being over-written each time. I want to keep all the exported files without having to change the name of the previous Excel file each time... Can the function disallowing the same name being used be turned off? Can my folder be set up to change the file name (i.e. file, file(1), file(2), .. , etc..) |

I'm pretty sure Windows prohibits files of the same name being stored in the
same folder. -- Brevity is the soul of wit. "Aidan Engineer" wrote: I am exporting data from a software package into Excel. One Excel file is created each time and stored in a particular folder. Can I save Excel files of the same name in the same folder?
Thanks for insight Dave, but is there any way around it? Can a folder be set
up so that if a second file of the same name is sent to it then it automatically alters the name.... i.e from filename to filename(1) "Dave F" wrote: I'm pretty sure Windows prohibits files of the same name being stored in the same folder. -- Brevity is the soul of wit.
