This is an age old problem, but I've never been able to get a fix or
workaround.

I am using Excel 2003 SP2, on Win XP SP2.

The problem is, when the source data has certain information disappear, the
pivot table created from this, still shows this old data in the drop down
menus. This is very annoying, and the only "fix" seems to be to delete and
re-create the pivot table from scratch. Not really a good solution!

Surely this must have been fixed by now, I think the problem existed since
Excel 97 ?

Please help... I have been given a chunk of code whic supposedly fixes it in
2002, but I've no idea how to implement this VB code.

Alternatively, you could download the PivotPlay add-in from this page of her
website:

After clicking [The View Processing Options] button on the PivotPlay window,
click the [Clear Invalid Field Names] button to automatically remove them.

After that, if you don't need the add-in any more just un-check it from
<tools<add ins

Hi Ron,

Thanks, this seems like it "could" do exactly what I want. However, after
clicking the button and letting it run off for a while. It froze Excel and
the Addin. Has this been tested on 2003?

Sorry about the delay.....(I wanted to be double-confident about my answer)

According to my notes, that feature of PivotPlay was tested in Excel 2003.
But...just to be sure nothing got missed, I tested it again on another PC
with Excel 2003. It ran without incident.

Please let me know if you can isolate any circumstances that cause PivotPlay
to not perform properly so I can fix it immediately.
