Default Highlight a range for data entry

I would like to highlight a range (grey or yellow) to indicate to the user
that some data entry must be performed in those cells, but I DON'T want the
color to appear when the spreadsheet is printed.

Can I do something like this?

You can set the printer's color option to black and white. When you're ready
to print, click FILE in the menu, select PRINT and click the PROPERTIES
button to set the properties for the printer.

Even in black and white, the highlighted cells print in shades of grey. I'm
looking for the highlighted cells to print as if they were not highlighted at
all.

Basically highlighted on the screen, but not on the print-out.
