HELP - filter function

It is easy to set up a data filter from the drop down menu.

Is there a way to set up a filter for multiple items from a data table that
has item added to it, without having to manually adjust the setting each time
as you would using the Data/filter drop down menu? I've tried using "If"
functions but that will not give me a list. How do I do it?

Help, in Idaho.

Maybe you can use Data|Filter Advanced filter with a criteria range.
Debra Dalgleish has some notes:

I like to cheat.

I add another column to the autofilter range and I put a formula that evaluates
to true/false and then filter on that.

Say your range to filter is in Sheet1!A1:X999, with the item in column A.
Your list of things you want to see is in Sheet2, column A.

I'd insert a new column B and put a formula like:
=isnumber(match(a2,sheet2!a:a,0))
And drag down

Then filter on the truthiness of that helper column.
