Excel Hangs between Tabs/Sheets?????

I have an Excel 2003 problem in that it hang between Tabs/Sheets when i am on
a sheet containing what might be considered "complex" data such as charts or
pixel table created data. I can simply click on any other running program
such as calculator then back on the excel, it then works. Any suggestions
