20 digit wont stop ending in zeros
I am trying to enter a 20 digit number into one cell but it keeps turning the last 5 numbers to zeros. I have tried text, number, currency, custom. Is there some trick that I should know excel just hate me? Thanks for any help, Joe -- bumble78 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bumble78's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=36373 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=572883 |
20 digit wont stop ending in zeros
Excel only keeps track of 15 significant digits.
If you want to treat the number as text, then pre-format the cell as Text or start your entry with an apostrophe: '12341234123412341234 bumble78 wrote: I am trying to enter a 20 digit number into one cell but it keeps turning the last 5 numbers to zeros. Remember you have to pre-format the cell as Text.
Format the cell as text first, then type your long string of numbers. (It's never failed for me.) bumble78 wrote: Thanks, the apostroy thing worked, the formating as text did not.
